- Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has unveiled plans to bring YouTubers, influencers, and digital creators under the tax net, marking a major shift in Pakistan’s digital economy.
Under the proposed framework, social media accounts with 50,000+ subscribers or significant quarterly viewership may be treated as businesses, with earnings from platforms like YouTube becoming taxable income. The move comes as Pakistan looks to bridge its widening tax gap and strengthen revenue collection.
Experts have been invited to share recommendations before a final policy is implemented, signaling that key changes for digital creators are on the horizon.
